In Fifth Grade, students will learn about the instruments of the orchestra and about how sound is produced in each instrument section. Students will be doing experiments during class time that will help them discover the unique qualities of each instrument section. Through group work, students will compose music using boom whackers, Orff Instruments, and a variety of other percussion instruments. They will be setting poetry to music, making commercials, and finding instruments in every day items that you have around the home. All of this will serve to extend their experiences in composing and creating music as well as working together to play music.
